A New Search Engine: MegaGlobe

Get ready. A new search engine will soon to be launched which will offer Google some stiff competition. The new search engine - MegaGlobe is now accepting Websites to be indexed. I have submitted the URL of all the blogs I am running. If you have a blog or a website, I would encourage you to do the same thing. MegaGlobe is expected to go into beta testing soon.

A good reason to use MegaGlobe when it is launched is that it will be available in 45 different languages.

For advertisers, MegaGlobe will be using a revolutionary patent pending technology called "Pay Per Valid Click” which will now protect its advertisers from invalid (previously called fraudulent) clicks which is plaguing Google AdSense. Google AdSense define invalid clicks as clicks generated through prohibited methods which include but are not limited to: repeated manual clicks, or the use of robots, automated clicking tools, or other deceptive software. Invalid clicks are also generated by the publishers clicking on ads in his own sites, encouraging others to click on the ads, etc. (This will get the publisher AdSense account suspended). How MegaGlobe is going to distinquish between invalid clicks and valid clicks have not been revealed by MegaGlobe yet, and unless they choose to reveal it, it will only be known if and when their patent is granted.

If the "Pay per Valid Click" technology works effectively, this will be a big incentive to use MegaGlobe giving advertisers far better value for money. Megaglobe is also a member of the prestigious Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB), which includes Google, Yahoo! and MSN as you can confirm in its roster IAB General Members. A further incentive for advertisers to use MegaGlobe is its sponsored spots will be available in 50 currencies.

If you are a journalists and Webmasters (this will include all bloggers), you can obtain beta testing codes by emailing press@megaglobe.com.

How to backup your New Blogger template and edit the template

If you intend to do any editing of the template of your New Blogger template, a wise thing to do is first backup your current template PLUS edit your Page Elements one by one, pasting the content into Notepad files and saving them together with your backup template. This has been made very easy for you. Just sign into the Dashboard, and in the section for the relevant blog, click LAYOUT, then click the TEMPLATE tab. Click the EDIT HTML sub-tab below that. This will open your template editor window where you can make changes to your template, but before you make any changes to the template, it is always wise to BACKUP the template first.

To backup the template, click the "Download full template" link and save the backup template into a suitable folder with a filename like blognameDate (substitude blogname with the name of your blog, plus any information that will help you pick out the template you want such as information on changes you plan to make, etc.) or other system of naming which will enable you to identify the backup template easily.

If you have been adding Page Elements, you should also edit the Page Elements one by one and copy its content into Notepad files, save them into the same folder that you save your backup template. This is because when you upload your backup template, there is a possibility that some Page Elements will not be saved. If you have backed up these Page Elements, all you need to do is to put them back.

Backing up Page Elements have been described in more details in Back New Blogger Page Elements (click BACK button to get back to this page).

After you have done that, you can edit the template in the template editor window with peace of mind, knowing if you mess it up, you can just upload your backup template plus put back in any Page Elements that got deleted in the process, and you will be back to your former state.

Regarding editing of the template, how you do it will depend on what you want to do. The simplest would be to edit the template without expanding the widget templates. The template will be easiest to read as it leave out a lot of parts of the template. However, sometimes this is not good enough, you will have to tick the "Expand widget template" to get access to the rest of the template. Whichever way you do will depend on what you want done. Follow the instruction.

Free pixels ads for Bloggers

Learned about Button Generator from a search for "free button generator" because I needed to generate a button for Free Blog Pixel. The button I generated looks like this:

Dummies Guide to Google Blogger button

The reason why I wanted the button was because this site Free pixels ads for Bloggers offer free and paid hyperlink image ads for free (limited to 60x20 pixels) and paid pixels space. When I tried to put the above button, the text in the button was unreadable, so I had to redo the buttons. The revised buttons for this blog is posted below:

Guide to Blogger

It isn't what I want, but for a free pixel advertisement, I have to be satisfied with what I can get. And for the privilage of using the free button generator and the free pixel advertisement, I have to publish the image links below:

Custom domain for New Blogger (formerly Blogger Beta)

Custom domain is a fairly new feature available recently for bloggers using the New Blogger platform. Most bloggers using Google Blogger do not have their own domain. Instead, they have a sub-domain in the form of http://yourblog.blogspot.com.

Some people are not too happy to use a sub-domain for their blog, as the sub-domain does not belong to them, but to Blogger. Some also have the opinion that it is less prestigious to use a sub-domain, rather like using your home for a business office which then therefore command less respect. If you are of that opinion, this is where custom domain comes in. You can register a domain for your blog and Blogger can host it free for you. And not only is it free, you do not have to bother with the hassle of using FTP (File Transfer Protocol) to publish your post. And you can use the new features available for New Blogger like Layout, drag and drop, Label list, etc.

Some bloggers are still not satisfied with just having their own domain, and want to host the blog on their own with a third party web host in addition to having their own domain. In this case, in addition to having pay for the annual renewal fee for the domain registration, you will have to pay monthly or yearly hosting fees. Depending on which web host you choose, you may also have to bother with limited bandwidth, etc. If your blog attracts high traffic, you may have to pay more for more bandwidth, etc.

If you are using your blog for business purposes, it is probably good to have your own domain for your blog. You will then have to register a suitable domain name. Now getting a suitable domain name may not be easy as many domain names have already be taken up and the one you want may not be available. This is where www.buydomains.com comes in. You can search for suitable and available domain name using their search box or their Advanced Search Tool.

If the searches don't turn up anything, you can use their new New Domain Alert to alert you of new available domain names.

Now you can also make a business of blogs that you start. You can register good domain names which you think may be of great value to someone, but who may happen to be late on the scene. You can then put up your domain name for sale at Sell Your Domains.

If rather than just parking the domain names, you start blogging and build up a good PageRank for the blogs. A domain name with a good PageRank can probably fetch higher prices. A PageRank of 5 is not too difficult to get if you put some work into it. Your blog will then fetch a good price

In addition, if you join the Google AdSense and place contextual text and/or image ads., Google search boxes or Google referral text or buttons on your blogs and get it up to earning a decent income, your blog can fetch even higher prices as there are people looking for ready made revenue generating blogs and are willing to pay for them. If you want to go that route, I can help you. Just comment in any of my blogs or email me. And when you are ready, just put the blog/s up for sale at Sell Your Domains.
